Bole Primary School, situated in the Oromia Region, is a large public institution serving 2,244 students and 75 staff. During the Ethiopia 2025 WASH Survey, the Needs4Water team conducted a thorough evaluation of the school’s water supply, sanitation facilities, and hygiene practices.

As one of the higher-enrolment schools in the survey, Bole Primary faces significant demand on its existing WASH infrastructure. Needs4Water documented overcrowded latrines, unreliable water access during dry periods, and inconsistent availability of soap and handwashing materials. These constraints strain daily routines and affect the school’s ability to promote a clean and healthy learning environment.

Despite these challenges, staff showed strong commitment to student well-being and supported the survey team in collecting detailed data. Project 12’s recommendations for Bole Primary focused on expanding toilet facilities, improving water storage systems, and providing regular hygiene supplies to meet the needs of this growing student population.
