Adrian Jude Velasco is a seasoned Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) professional with a comprehensive background in research safety, laboratory safety, hazardous materials management, and oil spill response. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT-University), Philippines, Adrian has furthered his expertise through numerous specialized training courses and certifications, including Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), and Certified Chemical Hygiene Officer (CCHO).

Currently serving as the EHS Manager of Research Safety at New York University – Abu Dhabi Campus since November 2020, Adrian manages research safety programs. His responsibilities encompass conducting safety inspections and audits, developing and conducting various safety trainings, and serving as both the Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO) and Radiation Protection Officer (RPO). A significant part of his role involves liaising with government and regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance, and managing hazardous waste disposal in accordance with local laws.

Prior to his current role, Adrian was a Laboratory Safety Specialist at Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Abu Dhabi, from June 2019 to November 2020. His duties included auditing, developing health and safety programs, and serving as the Radiation Protection Officer for the Sas Al Nakhl Campus. Between December 2015 and May 2019, he was the Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Officer at Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, Abu Dhabi, focusing on safe laboratory practices, chemical storage compliance, and risk assessment. From January 2013 to November 2015, Adrian began his career in safety as the Hazardous Materials and Oil Spill Response Officer at Fairdeal Marine Services, Fujairah, where he developed and administered occupational health and safety programs.

Adrian's professional development is underscored by his active involvement in key safety and health organizations, holding memberships with the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM), Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), and the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM). His commitment to safety is further evidenced by his participation in a range of training and development courses, covering areas from industrial radiation protection to emergency response and internal auditor courses for integrated management systems.
